You can emulate today
I always thought hard work and quick thinking were the keys which got me success. But I’ve been watching other successful women entrepreneurs too and have come to realize that it also has something to do with “successful” habits.
So here’s a compilation of the top 12 winning habits that make women entrepreneurs successful.
- Being involved
When you’re running the show, you need to know exactly what’s happening where and when in your company. You also need to have information about things that should be happening but are not. Women entrepreneurs, who habitually achieve goals, swear by regular team meetings to stay abreast of where things are in every area of the business. A quick stand-up meet to talk about what everyone’s doing and who needs help is one of the most effective ways to do this. Tracking goals and following up on deadlines is a continuous process and is the only way to get things done. If you want to achieve goals and deadlines, then you can’t just be involved – you need to be 100% involved.
- Stay the course
One thing you can’t do if you’re the boss is to give up. If you want to succeed, then you need to want to succeed bad enough to never give up. No woman got where she is without hard work and determination. Keep going and don’t quit is the motto of women entrepreneurs who succeed. Stick to your vision, focus on the goal and just stay the course.
- Count the pennies
Now I’m not trying to sound miserly here, but if you want to grow then you better be careful about expenses. When you’re starting out it is essential that you spend only what you need to. Plan your expenses well and calculate the returns on every penny to be able to spend wisely without wasting valuable resources.
- Learn to take risks
A good entrepreneur is one who knows when to take a strategic risk and the possible opportunities/pitfalls involved. You can keep running your venture the way it’s been going, or you can do something new and see if it works out. I’m not asking you to take risks that could bankrupt you. But sometimes clients approach you for things you’re not currently doing, or you may need to change your strategy and try something different to get more business. Your decision to take up an opportunity to diversify or change could be the difference between success and failure. If you’re excessively conservative and cautious at times like that, you could just miss one of the biggest breaks of your life. History shows that successful women entrepreneurs are those who like a bit of adventure and are willing to take a chance to make it big. Like J K Rowling recommends, be willing to fail.
- Focus on the goal and the purpose
Whatever you do, your focus must be on goals and results. Apply your abilities, your effort and your mind to achieving goals by taking action. Women who have succeeded are women who have complete clarity about what they want to achieve. The best way is to put your long-term goals down on paper or an excel worksheet, break them down into smaller daily/weekly goals and then never to lose sight of them. Focus and action will take you to your target.
- Take time out to plan
If you want to succeed the key is to allocate specific time to plan and track your progress. Put aside time to plan the day and the week and then make sure that it’s going the way you planned it. There will obviously be instances when you need to make changes and adjust to unforeseeable events and situations, but if you’ve planned your time and your goals well and are following up on them, you will most of the times get the results you anticipated.
- Stay on your toes
Nothing should catch you unawares. You need to be on top of things in your industry. Business trends, market fluctuations, and customer preferences – these are things that you need to be in the know of on a continuous basis. Read, watch, talk to people, network and mingle, do what it takes to know what’s going on so that when you plan your marketing strategies or take important decisions, you’re not going in blind.
- Don’t procrastinate
When you need to act you need to act. Entrepreneurs who procrastinate and delay decisions or actions are entrepreneurs who usually don’t stick around for too long. Yes, you need to seriously consider and discuss your decisions and actions before taking them, but once you’re decided then delaying isn’t going to get you results. Taking emphatic and confident decisions in the nick of time is a common habit of successful businesswomen.
- Be kind but say no when you need to
Being inconsiderate can never help you reach your goals especially when you have to work with a team and keep your customers happy. But that doesn’t mean you have to say yes, all the time. The trick is to clearly know what is possible and will give you substantial returns or goodwill and what will not. Be choosy, be wise and learn to say no when it is not feasible, or the returns are just going to result in a lot of anxiety and stress. Focus on quality rather than quantity.
- Don’t forget to schedule
Keeping a personal and a team calendar to schedule tasks, events, meetings, etc. is the only way to succeed if you are an entrepreneur. Every entrepreneur who made it big had and still has a calendar to schedule tasks. Not only will the alerts prevent you from forgetting important stuff, but it will also help in allocating a specific time to complete and achieve goals and make sure you’re not interrupted by other not-so-important tasks. You may not always be able to do things the way they’ve been scheduled, but if you’ve got it down on a calendar, it will at least clear the clutter in your head.
- Focus on one thing at a time
Multi-tasking is a big thing, but many who succeed swear by the one-big-task-per-day strategy. Scheduling one or two important things to do for every day of the week (and you can include your personal goals for the weekends) helps you arrange and manage all the thousands of tasks that are fighting for your attention every day. It will help you avoid getting overwhelmed, plan well and take action at the right time.
- Stay Organized
No, I mean digitally. We’re using so many gadgets to help us work and sometimes like our minds, they get cluttered too. It is an effort to clean up and organize the information and data on your laptop, phone and tab on a regular basis. But if you can do it every week, the boost in your productivity and efficiency is worth all the trouble. It helps you focus on what’s important and pull out information faster without too much stressful searching.
Apart from being a good leader, a successful woman entrepreneur is smart, thinks on her feet and has her finger on the business’ pulse. Her willingness to work hard and be a role model for her team is the other factor that makes her win.

Hello world
These are all really great tips and I know that when I put some of these into place it really helps me stay focused and reach my goals. Thanks for sharing!
Good to read you are motivated to incorporate these habits. Hope you see you at the top!
These are so true and such great habits to have!! I try to do these all the time!
Good to read that these habits work for you. You are one evidence women need more of these habits. Thank you Ashil
Definitely going to incorporate these into my lifestyle. Great tips that Ill try to do more
SAY NO WHEN YOU NEED TO! Too many people don’t say NO enough and in the end, it can really HURT rather than HELP situations!
I guess it’s the Superwoman mentality and expectations society has put on us. I love to help, but drawing the line when I can’t sincerely help is one habit that has saved me from stress.
These were all true. I am not an entrpreneur but I can apply this on my personal life.
These are great tips! I know some of them don’t apply to me because I work for me and with me and no one else. But most of them are so true. I am good at a few, and I can keep myself organized very well. I do tend to multi-task, though, which I have been working on by time-blocking my days and it’s helped a lot.
Thank you, Stephanie, for sharing the time blocking tip. It’s helpful to me
yes taking time to plan out a week of stuff to-do is huge! I feel like when I do that, I’m way more productive.
its so important to make a schedule! It may take a time, but I’m way more productive when I do.
very well written, engaging and relatable tips! Thanks for sharing!
I agree with saying no when you need to! So many women have trouble with this!
I know right. It’s okay to even agree that you don’t always have it figured out, we are human before woman.
The hardest thing I struggle with is taking risks. I always want to play it safe but I guess it would be better if I didnt.
these are all 100% true. it’s important to be concerned about money and scheduling is def important to me.
I have learned to leave my fear behind and take risks and it definitely pays off. I thank for sharing all those great tips.
Good to see you have one of the habits of successful female entrepreneurs. It is needed.
I really like the idea of learning to risk it. I would like to go with J K Rowling’s say on this to be willing to fail. 😊
There is a lot waiting for us outside our comfort zones.
These are great habits to get into. I need to work on taking time out to plan and focusing on one thing at a time – I’m not good at those!
When you find a method that works, you’ll realise what you’ve been losing all this while 😉
Such an informative post that every woman needs. You have good points in every habit you’ve mentioned. Thanks for sharing!
Thanks for stopping by Gladys
Great post!!
I thin whether you are in business or in any other field, to be successful you should never settle for mediocrity.
That’s the height of it, mediocrity. It never helps anyone.
Thank you so much for these great tips and habits!
Good to read it was helpful, Lieze.
So important to take out time to plan thigns!
Yes it is!
Focusing on one thing at a time has been the best bit of advice for me. As a blogger, it is so easy to spread yourself thin on all the things to learn and mastering one thing at a time really helps you build a solid foundation.
I totally agree with you. There is business, family, me time. There is no shortcut to it. One thing at a time.
I totally agree with these. Organization is so important as is focusing on one thing at a time. You never want to be spread too thinly.
Exactly. Organisation helps with clarity and focus. Everyone should be organised.
These are great tips. I try to inculcate them in life. I want to be successful business women. Keeping your blog as a reminder, thanks.
Thank you, Arjun. You’ll find content on women breaking barriers whenever you visit.
These are definitely some great tips! I am hoping to see a lot more women entrepreneurs in the future!
Same here. They have the potentials to become successful.
Those are some very important and effective tips to be successful. Thanks for sharing.
I’m glad I did Sonal. Thanks for reading!
These are really great tips and reminders. I love that you mentioned budgeting and counting pennies. I think this gets glossed over so often, and it’s a really big part of having a successful business.
Losing track of what’s going and coming in with money is never a good idea in business. So, it’s essential someone is reminded
Great tips, thank you for sharing! I feel like I know all of these aready but still I am not following it 😉 So it’s always good to get a reminder. Was procrastinating just now so NOPE back to work!
Everyone errs on these habits here and there. What matters is one is not ignorant of the consequences. So, you are forced to do what’s right.
love these tips! every single one of them is important. Thanks so much for sharing. Setting goals are one of the important habits that we really need.
Thanks for reading Romeo. Remember to set goals and crush them too.

Haha. Everyone wants to be successful, so that’s fair.
Really great directions to success. Most of this could apply to ones personal life as well.
I totally agree with you, Blair. Thanks for stopping by.
These are all great tips. Esp. the two about planning and NOT procrastinating. The former is critical, but it’s essential NOT to get so wrapped up in it that you never get to the latter!
Procrastination kills success but with a good plan, one should be good.
I think learning to take risks is a must. I feel like a lot of times people tend to develop self-doubt or they have fear about things so they try not to take risks, but some risks are worth it. You can learn a lot and come across a lot of new opportunities when you do take a leap of faith.
I totally agree with you, Jasmine. Leaving your comfort zone is a criterion for success on life
This is a very helpful list, thanks for sharing it 😉 We do get caught up in all the things we want or have to do and we forget to focus on one thing at a time or stay organized, so this is a great reminder!
These are such great tips! I struggle with planning and organizing! I definitely need to work on those!

These are some really awesome tips! I know that being an entreprenuer can be so tough sometimes.
It can be; however, with the right mindset, everything will be fine.
I agree with the “focus on a thing at a time” tip. While pursuing entrepreneurship, you have a lot of stuff in your mind and to find yourself getting caught up trying to do everything is really easy.
Thank you for sharing.
I’m glad I shared this. Many of us are guilty of having so many things on our plates and wanting to be superheroes. My post on work-life balance for working moms stresses this more.
Such a great list, really useful, thanks for sharing 😉 Focus on one thing at a time is the one I struggle with the most, I have to admit 😉
I can relate, Raluca. I’m always caught up in this sometimes myself. With time, we can perfect these habits.
i think the connection in both is very important

I’m glad you find it motivating, Danang. Endeavour to stop by for similar content!
I could really stand to stop multi-tasking. I always notice the quality of my work (or lack thereof) when I am distracted by four other things.
Same here. It’s an unhealthy habit that everyone needs to stop.
This post is SO good and all of these tips are things I work to implement daily when it comes to running my own business! I’m saving this to reference when I need an extra little push of confidence! Thanks for sharing!

Don’t procrastinate and do one thing at a time, really works for me. It is so hard to learn this and put it in practice but so important to keep ourselves on track.
Oooo so many fantastic tips!!! Motivation is always key to anything!!!
I agree, these are really the traits of a successful woman. It’s kinda hard but it’s doable.
